Food recalls ran the gamut this week, starting with an update on the cyclospora outbreak linked to Walmart’s iceberg lettuce. There were also millions of eggs recalled due to potential salmonella contamination and over 184,000 cans of lentil soup voluntarily recalled for a manufacturing defect that posed a spoilage risk. The FDA recently classified a June 22, 2026, recall of 184,200 cans of Amy’s Organic Lentil Soup, Light in Sodium as a Class II recall due to the potential for spoilage. According to NBC Bay Area, a company spokesperson confirmed a manufacturing defect in the can’s pull tab. They did not elaborate further.

The cans of soup were sold in 27 states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin) as well as parts of Canada. Customers can return cans to their place of purchase for a refund or reach out to Amy’s with questions.

On July 22, 2026, Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. recalled 1,589,577 dozen eggs for potential salmonella contamination. The eggs were produced on two Texas farms between June 6, 2026, and July 3, 2026, and then distributed to foodservice locations and grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Mississippi. This included some Kroger stores and Brookshire locations. The company can be reached Monday through Friday at 707-781-7535 or 800-643-0570 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST.

Customers have been advised not to consume the recalled eggs and return them for a refund. At this time, Midwest Poultry Services L.P. has suspended egg distribution from any of its Texas farms. None of its other products have been recalled.

As part of the ongoing cyclospora outbreak, popular produce supplier Taylor Farms issued a recall of all its lettuce grown in central Mexico. This recall came after lettuce grown in central Mexico tested positive for the diarrhea-causing parasite. This positive test was later declared a false positive, but the recall remains in effect out of an abundance of caution.

Included in the lengthy list of recalled products were two different iceberg lettuces distributed to Walmart stores under the Marketside brand. The recalled iceberg was sold in Walmart stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Marketside Iceberg Salad (12-ounce and 24-ounce bags) and Marketside Shredded Iceberg Lettuce (8-ounce and 16-ounce bags)

Better If Used Before: July 18, 2026 and Aug. 3, 2026
