Bill O'Reilly revealed he is "dealing with a malady" in a blog post on Tuesday, Jan. 20, though he declined to name the illness

The 76-year-old conservative commentator will not be hosting his podcast, No Spin News, while he gets treated

Bill O'Reilly revealed he is "dealing with" an unnamed illness in a new blog post shared on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

"Hey No Spin Nation. Sorry I am dealing with a malady," O'Reilly, 76, wrote on BillOReilly.com. "We have great doctors so we’ll fight the good fight. Doesn’t affect my fingers so will update you on me, news cycle, and anything major. Hopefully, back in the saddle shortly."

As promised, O'Reilly continued commenting on the news throughout the week, with a blog post on Thursday, Jan. 22, beginning, "No Spin Nation alert. I’m not giving in to this malady and am following news events as usual."

The announcement comes amid a pause in his podcast production for No Spin News, according to USA Today.

The former Fox News anchor hosted The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News from 1996 to 2017, when he was fired amid a series of sexual harassment allegations.

Five women were paid a collective $13 million by O'Reilly and Fox News for agreeing not to file lawsuits or speak publicly about allegations that he harassed them, The New York Times reported in April 2017. The settlements — involving women who had either worked with O'Reilly or appeared on his show — took place sporadically between 2002 and 2016. Fox News parted ways with O'Reilly later that month.

At the time, 21st Century Fox said that the network and O'Reilly came to the decision after a "thorough and careful review of the allegations."

O'Reilly called the allegations "unfounded" in a statement to PEOPLE at the time. He was fired shortly after CEO and chairman Roger Ailes stepped down amidst similar claims.

"It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims," O'Reilly said in 2017. "But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today. I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. I wish only the best for Fox News Channel."

In 2021, Andrea Mackris, an alleged survivor of O'Reilly's harassment, spoke out in an interview with The Daily Beast. At the time, she reportedly broke her NDA and opened up about the alleged harassment she claims she experienced from O'Reilly and the subsequent lawsuit that followed. Mackris was a 33-year-old producer who worked under O'Reilly at Fox News when she sought legal action.
