New details have emerged from the March 4 arrest that led to Britney Spears being charged with a DUI.
Records pertaining to Spears' arrest in Ventura County, Calif. by California Highway Patrol were released on Thursday. A previous arrest report noted that local police fielded calls about a driver "traveling at high speeds and swerving" who bore the "distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage" when pulled over. "I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I'm an angel," Spears allegedly told them, per the police.
Later on, *The New York Times *released its own assessment of the incident and investigative reports about Spears' arrest, which included dashcam video and dispatch audio.
"You can come to my house — I'll make you food or lasagna or whatever you want," Spears told the arresting officers in a video of the arrest. "I have a pool." The "Baby One More Time" singer spoke at times in a British accent, and at other times adopted a childlike voice, per police records, which noted that "Her mood changed from confrontational and agitated to flamboyant and compliant."

Dashcam video of Spears' arrest on the evening of March 4 begins with officers' pursuit of a driver speeding erratically in a black BMW convertible. The over three hours of footage cease after 2 a.m. the following morning.
Per an officer who walked Spears through an impairment evaluation, the pop star spoke "nonsensically about things that did not pertain to the exercise." Later, through tears in the back of a patrol car, Spears accused officers of being "mean to me" and of "lying," before claiming, "I wasn't even drinking." Finally, Spears told officers she was "scared," before asking if she'd be able to drive home after the arrest. "I just want to go home," she stated in video footage.

Spears spoke out for the first time since her DUI arrest on March 27. "Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing!" she wrote on Instagram, urging her followers to "stay kind!"
Two weeks later, she voluntarily checked herself into rehab before being officially charged with a DUI. She eventually pleaded guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol, drugs or both in her DUI case, avoiding jail time due to a so-called "wet reckless" plea, a reduced charge offered to Spears due to it being her first DUI charge, her low blood alcohol level at the time, and her reckless driving not resulting in a crash or injury.
She was ultimately fined $571 and ordered to submit to 12 months probation, as well as complete a three-month substance abuse program.
