Bronny James has received unexpected praise from PGA Tour professional Michael Kim after being offered advice on his golf swing.
James has been making the most of the Los Angeles Lakers’ earlier-than-expected offseason after the team fell short of the Western Conference Finals against Oklahoma City Thunder.
With extra time on his hands, James shared a golf swing video on Instagram that quickly gained traction on social media, adding to the growing attention around his development away from basketball. James shares the same interest in golf as his father, LeBron James, who previously revealed he only took up the sport after turning 40. Kim was impressed by the swing: “Slightly over the top but a really solid swing."
Former NBA guard Brandon Jennings also urged James to take golf more seriously. He said: "It's time Bronny!!!! That swing is insane!!! GO PRO."

Despite the high praise, it seems highly unlikely that James will become a professional golfer after just two seasons in the NBA. The 21-year-old averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 assists in 8.9 minutes per game during the 2025–26 season, shooting 40.9% from the field and 38.6% from three-point range during the Lakers' most recent campaign.
It's not the first time PGA Tour stars have offered advice to the James family. A number of golfers were recently shown a video of Lebron's golf swing via the tour’s social media channels, offering feedback and technical pointers on the four-time NBA champion’s technique.
2025 US Open winner JJ Spaun did flip most of the responsibility onto Bronny saying: "Looks like he sets up a little open. I would maybe add a little knee flex. Or he could just talk to his son, Bronny. He’s got a really good swing. Maybe Bronny could give him some tips.”
Akshay Bhatia agreed with Spaun’s initial comments, saying James looked like a slicer: “He looks like he would just slice it all the time. His shoulders are very open.

“Through it looks ok, though. I mean, he aims right, his shoulders are open, and that’s a recipe for a slice. I would have him, with the driver, especially, tilt his shoulders. I mean, he’s a great athlete, so I think he can figure it out pretty fast.”
Billy Horschel and Cameron Young also had some technical advice, with Horschel commenting, “He needs to learn how to rotate. Keep the arms more out front of him a little bit, not pull the arms in.”
