Charlie Heaton is responding to fan comparisons between himself and Harry Styles

"We're both from the north of England, we're about the same age," he tells PEOPLE

Charlie Heaton doesn't mind twinning with Harry Styles.

At the season 4 premiere of HBO's Industry on Jan. 8, the Stranger Things star, 31, told PEOPLE he finds fan comparison to Styles, also 31, "funny."

"We're both from the north of England, we're about the same age," Heaton said after being asked about fans who compare his appearance to that of the pop star.

"I don't know. There [are] some similarities. Yeah, I get it," he added. "I've never met him, but maybe one day I'll get to say hi to him."

In the new season of Industry, Heaton plays finance journalist Jim Dycker, a big departure from his role of Jonathan Byers on Stranger Things. After filming the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, Heaton said he was excited to take on a project that was "British" this time around.

"It's just so different from what I've done before, and I think that's what attracted me," he said. "I was scared to do it. I didn't think I could do it, so it was cool to dive into it. I came into an established cast, and that's the opposite of what I'm used to. But everyone was really nice, really welcoming."

Heaton previously addressed comparisons to the "Golden" musician in 2022 while speaking with Hits Radio. At the time, Heaton was asked if he'd be "down" for a "Parent Trap situation" where he swaps lives with the One Direction alum.

"A day in the life of Harry Styles, sure, why not, yeah," he said. "Could you make it happen?"

As for the end of his time on Stranger Things, which wrapped with its Dec. 31 series finale, Heaton told PEOPLE his last day on set will "forever live in my memory."

"That last day on set, the things we were shooting, it was just real honesty," he said. "It was just like, I love the people I'm working with and I'm sad to say goodbye to you. It was a really special experience."

After "working a lot this year," he's now looking forward to "hopefully" having "a little break" in 2026, Heaton added.

New episodes of Industry drop Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
