Charlize Theron revealed that many of Carrie-Anne Moss’ costumes in Memento came from her own closet due to the film’s low budget
Theron shared that her friend Cindy Evans, the film’s costume designer, lived with her during the movie’s production
Memento, directed by Christopher Nolan, earned two Oscar nominations and starred Guy Pearce and Joe Pantoliano
Many of the costumes in Christopher Nolan’s Memento looked familiar to Charlize Theron.
Theron recently joined her Odyssey costars Zendaya and Lupita Nyong’o for an interview with Konbini’s Video Club, where the 50-year-old revealed that many of the clothes Carrie-Anne Moss wore in the 2000 film were actually hers.
When the interviewer asked if Theron had a favorite Christopher Nolan film, she responded, “That’s hard because I love all of them.”
“But Memento is special to me because my friend costume-designed that film and we lived together during that time, and Chris and his brother would come to the house and have meetings with her there about costumes, and they had no money,” she explained. “So a lot of what Carrie Anne Moss wears in that movie came from my closet.”

Cindy Evans was the costume designer for the film, which was written and directed by Nolan, and starred Guy Pearce and Joe Pantoliano in addition to Moss, who played bartender Natalie in the movie, often wearing casual yet edgy attire.

It was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.
Pearce, 58, revealed last year exactly how he felt about his performance as Leonard Shelby, an ex-insurance investigator who tries to find the man who killed his wife. However, Shelby suffers from a rare form of memory loss, causing him to remember only what happened before the incident, and not what happened 15 minutes earlier.

“I watched Memento the other day, and I’m still depressed. I’m s--- in that movie,” Pearce candidly shared with The Sunday Times. “While it was playing, I realized I hate what I did.”
“I was trying to do a flippant attitude, but it was all wrong. John Gielgud once said, ‘You can be good in a good movie, good in a bad movie, bad in a bad movie, but never be bad in a good movie.’ Yet I watched Memento and realized I’m bad in a good movie. F---!”
While Theron’s clothes played an important role in the film, she recently got to work with Nolan in a more formal sense, starring in The Odyssey, which is now in theaters.
