Disgraced 'racist joke' comedian blamed for Trump 'bombing' at White House Correspondents' Dinner

CNN panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin claimed disgraced comedian Tony Hinchcliffe wrote President Donald Trump's unimpressive speech he delivered last night at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
On July 24, President Donald Trump, 80, delivered his hour-long keynote address during the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Association Dinner that was a redo after an attack in April. Trump unsuccessfully tried to roast the media at the event, but got no laughs. During a CNN broadcast after the event, Griffin, 37, claimed Hinchcliffe, 42, wrote the crass humor in the president's speech.
Griffin reminded audiences that on October 2024, Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage" during a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden in New York. This came after the president endured multiple awkward moments at the rescheduled event.

During the CNN panel, Van Jones, 57, started off with, "It's hard to be disappointed. Given what I've seen from the past 10 years. It's like Lucy and the football. Here I am once again disappointed."
Griffin added, "From a performance standpoint, and comparing it to previous presidents at these events, he bombed. He objectively bombed. There were missed opportunities.

"Listen, I didn't think he was going to bring a lot of substance into it. But as I've said, he's someone that's actually capable of humor. And instead, he really went for really, lowball unfunny jokes. Like at least, make the punchline land.
"It's been reported that comedian Tony Hinchcliffe helped him revise on his remarks. This has his hands all over it. You'll remember him from his Madsion Square Garden rally, calling Puerto Rico an island of trash," she mentioned.
"He's really someone who goes low. He demeans women. He leans into racist tropes. And I felt those fingerprints were on this speech. It's such a missed opportunity because you can't say Trump is a showman," Griffin closed.

During the speech, President Trump went after his rivals and made a joke about former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's weight, which received little laughter from the room.
“It was a fantastic celebration,” Trump said, pointing out his July 4th America 250 anniversary celebrations, which were severely impacted by inclement weather.
“But I can exclusively reveal to you this evening that for the heaviest of the heavyweights, we will have sloppy Chris Christie, one of the sloppiest human beings you’ll ever meet.

"I could mention the governor of Chicago, but I’m gonna mention, instead, Jerry Nadler, and they’re fighting for a big piece of cheesecake. Big fat piece of cheesecake," he went on.
As the speech continued in awkward silence, Trump remarked, “Who the hell wrote that line?” as the camera showed confusion among the crowd before he eventually added, “But it is true.”
