Donald Trump blasted CNNās Kaitlan Collins once again at the White House Correspondentsā Dinner.
On Friday, July 24, the 2026 White House Correspondentsā Association (WHCA) Dinner was held at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC. The event had been rescheduled after an assassination attempt on the original April date.
āI want to personally congratulate CNNās Kaitlan Collins on receiving her award,ā Trump, 80, told attendees. Collins won the WHCAās Award for Excellence in Presidential News Coverage Under Deadline Pressure in the broadcast category.
The POTUS continued, āIt was all about me. Itās a fake. She shouldnāt get the award. It was a fake, but I didnāt mind. I said, Kaitlan, congratulations. But it was fake. Thereās no question about it.ā
Thatās when Trump pivoted to criticizing Collins for not smiling ā an insult he publicly hurled at her in February, after calling her āstupid and nastyā in December.
āBut sheās a young, attractive woman. She never smiles,ā the president claimed. āI said, āKaitlan, you ever smile?ā Smile. You have a nice position. Youāre at CNN fake news. You should be a happy person. So smile, Kaitlan. Just smile.ā

Additionally, Trump compared Collins to transgender actress and social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender woman.
āI thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but⦠it wasnāt her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,ā he said. āAnd Dylan Mulvaney cost Bud Light $35 billion in market cap. That was the worst commercial ever made, by the way.ā
Later, Trump took aim at Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
āI hope that everyone finally got to enjoy their entire very delicious beef tenderloin. Very special beef,ā the POTUS said. āAnd I want you all to know that Bobby Kennedy is right here. Personally ran over the cow in his car, and he cut it up, and he brought it here for you to eat tonight.ā
Trump continued, āSo itās very fresh. And Bobby also suggested an appetizer featuring his favorite cut of male raccoon roadkill. But we drew the line at that, Cheryl [Hines], we said, no, weāre not going to do that. Weāre not doing that.ā
Later, Trump called Don Lemon the ādumbest man on television.ā The POTUS also claimed that although he used to like CNNās Anderson Cooper, āhe went bad as soon as I went for politics.ā
