Right before Spain scored a winning goal against Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Donald Trump held a press conference alongside FIFA boss Gianni Infantino.

While talking to the press, both Trump and Infantino reflected on the six-week-long tournament, in addition to the president sharing his newfound affection for soccer.

But while Trump’s confession about his new affliction for the sport gained people’s attention, it was his comments about his youngest son, Barron, that left people baffled.

According to the president’s conversation with his ā€œtallā€ son, the 20-year-old believes he’s unbeatable at the sport, even if he faces top World Cup teams like Spain and France.

Barron Trump Believes No One ā€œWill Get Pastā€ Him in Soccer

During the press conference, while discussing what he described as the ā€œsuccessfulā€ World Cup, Trump revealed that his 20-year-old son is a big soccer fan.

In his speech, the president brought up Barron Trump and reflected on his lifelong love for the sport. The 80-year-old said, ā€œHe’s a strong player. Although his speed… You see, the boy is a little on the larger sideā€¦ā€

Further, Trump reflected on a conversation he had with his son about a what-if situation where he’s pitted against one of the top World Cup teams, like Spain, Argentina, France, and England.

ā€œAnd he said to me, ā€˜Dad, I’ve got control of the ball.’ And I said to him, ā€˜But, Barron, what if he’s faster than you? What will you do?ā€™ā€ Trump revealed to the press.

He added, ā€œAnd he replied with a 7-word response, ā€˜Dad, no one will get past me.’ I said, ā€˜Well, what if?’ But he didn’t answer.ā€ Trump continued, ā€œAs far as I understand, speed plays a big role in this sport, doesn’t it? But overall, he’s good.ā€

Donald Trump Attends FIFA World Cup Final With Family

This press conference took place before the FIFA World Cup final on July 19, which Donald Trump attended as the first sitting president, alongside his wife, Melania Trump, and their son, Barron.

The 20-year-old stole the spotlight following the final between Spain and Argentina, as he was spotted sharing a warm exchange with FIFA president Gianni Infantino, in the presence of his father, Donald Trump.

In addition to Barron Trump, even his 56-year-old mother earned public attention with her oversized sunglasses while sitting inside a private, bulletproof box, reigniting the ā€œfake Melaniaā€ conspiracy theory.

Further, the 80-year-old grabbed attention during Spain’s trophy celebration. After handing the trophy to the Spain captain Rodri, Trump’s decision to linger onstage led the FIFA president to guide him aside.
