Devon Walker & Ego Nwodim Revealed They Were Leaving 'SNL' on Social Media

Entertainment Weekly reported that Walker and Nwodim revealed they would no longer be filming SNL following season 50 in separate Instagram uploads.

According to the publication, Walker let his fans know he and SNL "broke up" after three years in an August 2025 Instagram post.

"Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But we did what we made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f‑‑‑ed up lil family," read the caption of the post.

Meanwhile, Nwodim shared she was stepping away from SNL following her seventh season in a September 2025 Instagram upload. In the caption, she expressed gratitude to the show's creator and producer, Lorne Michaels, as well as the show's cast, crew, and writers.

"Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories (and that laughter) with me always," continued the comedian.

Nwodim shared more information about what led to her recent career move during a November 2025 interview on Sherri. Nwodim joked that being an SNL cast member was "like being in a marriage." She explained that SNL "was [her] longest relationship ever." She clarified that while she isn't "a commitment-phobe," she was beginning to feel restless

"I started to get the seven-year itch," quipped Nwodim on the talk show.

She also shared that she was grateful for her seven years on the series.

"I truly did learn so much there. And I had so much fun. I miss my colleagues. But it felt like the time to make space for something else for me," said Nwodim.

Walker and Nwodim weren't the only SNL cast members to leave Studio 8H following season 50. NBC News reported that Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim, and John Higgins also stepped away from the show prior to its current 51st season, which premiered in October 2025.
