Ex-Giants WR Collin Johnson announces retirement, enrollment at MIT

Former New York Giants wide receiver Collin Johnson has retired from the NFL after six seasons.

Johnson officially announced his retirement on Thursday and revealed that he will enroll at MIT in the fall of 2026.

Johnson was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 165 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. The California native appeared in 14 games for Jacksonville that season, recording a career-high 272 receiving yards before being waived prior to the start of the 2021 campaign.

He was claimed off waivers by the Giants ahead of the 2021 season and played in 12 games for New York. Johnson’s final NFL action came with the Chicago Bears during the 2023-24 season. He spent part of the 2025 offseason and training camp with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Johnson played college football at the University of Texas from 2016 to 2019 before entering the NFL. He will pursue his MBA at MIT.
