Hugh Jackman isn’t ready to put away Wolverine’s cowl just yet. **

While visiting *The View *on Wednesday, the *X-Men* actor explained why he believes that his time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is far from over.

“Now you recently said that it doesn’t feel like the end for you when it comes to the character,” *The View*’s Sunny Hostin began. “Is that a clue that you’re gonna be in *Avengers: Doomsday*?” **

Jackman refused to rise to the bait. “That’s not a clue,” he immediately responded, before making a show of covering his face with his hands. “Watch my face. Try to work this out. No.”

Still, the actor admitted that it “just doesn’t” feel like the end of the road for his character Logan after officially making the leap from the 20th Century Fox era of superhero films and into the MCU in the 2024 box office smash hit, *Deadpool & Wolverine*. **

“For five years, I was like, 'I'm done.' And Ryan Reynolds would ring me a lot like, 'Come on!' I'm like, 'No,’” Jackman explained. “And then I rang him one day and said, 'I'm in.’”

He continued, “And so I go with this — and that's what my gut says — it's not done. But that's just me! Marvel might have different ideas.” **

Jackman’s comments come amid swirling speculation that he or Reynolds could potentially reprise their roles in *Doomsday*. In August, the *Deadpool* actor appeared to tease his potential involvement in the film by posting an Instagram photo that featured a red anarchy symbol graffitied over the Avengers logo. **

Wolverine wouldn’t even be the only mutant getting in on the action if he joined the cast, either. Many of his fellow *X-Men *costars — including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden — are all confirmed to star in the next Avengers installment. **

And that’s not including Channing Tatum, who finally brought his version of the X-Men character Gambit to life in *Deadpool & Wolverine* and is now set to star in *Avengers: Doomsday*. The star-studded cast also includes Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Wyatt Russell, and more.

Jackman has appeared as Logan/Wolverine in 10 different *X-Men* films over the course of the last 25 years. While it seemed like the character’s fate was initially sealed at the end of 2017’s *Logan*, Jackman has since teased that he may step back into his superhero suit once again.

"I am never saying 'never' ever again,” Jackman said during a November visit to *The Graham Norton Show*. "I did mean it when I said 'never,' until the day when I changed my mind. But I really did for quite a few years, I meant it."

*Avengers: Doomsday* — with or without Jackman — descends upon theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
