A TikTok creator recently came up with a short but sweet jingle for Dr Pepper

"Dr Pepper, baby, it's good and nice," they sang in a now-viral TikTok clip, which amassed over 45 million views

The "playful video" was later turned into a national commercial that aired during the College Football Playoff National Championship.

It was an average day when the perfect Dr Pepper jingle popped into Romeo's head: "Dr Pepper baby, it's good and nice. Doo. Doo. Doo."

Feeling like they "had to act" on their intuition, they quickly grabbed their phone, hit record and "impulsively" posted the jingle, joking that they didn't want anyone else to "steal it."

"I've always loved making and writing music, and I post a lot of my songs and ideas on TikTok," Romeo, who uses they/them pronouns, tells PEOPLE. "When I made the jingle, it honestly started as a playful video about a drink I genuinely love, Dr Pepper."

However, the 26-year-old never could have imagined that their simple idea would go mega viral, let alone lead to a national commercial during the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Romeo posted the video just days before Christmas, and it has since amassed over 45 million views.

"Seeing it explode to over 3 million likes and tens of millions of views was cool. I loved seeing people use the sound and create their own videos to boost it," they say. "It really showed the power of social media, creativity, and the way people rally around something fun and light-hearted."

While Romeo hoped someone at Dr Pepper was one of the millions to see the clip, they wanted to be "intentional" about it.

"@Dr Pepper, please get back to me with a proposition we can make thousands together," they wrote in the video's caption, tagging the brand.

"I captioned my post very intentionally, knowing what this could do for me and Dr Pepper if it did work the way my heart wanted it to," they share.

As hoped, the beverage brand saw the video, along with dozens of other companies that asked Romeo to create jingles for them as well. When the official Dr Pepper account commented on the video, the social team told Romeo to "check their DMs," and from there, it "took on a life of its own."

"Once they reached out, everything came together quickly. They licensed the jingle and treated it like a real creative collaboration," Romeo shares. "I knew what was coming up and the potential this had. I was credited, involved, and part of shaping how it evolved from a TikTok moment into a full jingle."

"We worked closely together to keep the heart of the original TikTok sound while producing it into something that could live in a national campaign," they add.

Dr Pepper and Romeo's team wanted to "bring the song to a big moment," so they opted to air the commercial during the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 19.

Romeo describes the whole process as a "once in a lifetime opportunity."

"I'll never have that first moment again, so it was incredible. I'll cherish it forever, knowing that trusting myself got me here," they say. "I write music all the time, so watching something I made become a real, professionally produced piece in a national commercial was amazing."

"I have one released song so far and another on the way, so this felt like such a special milestone in getting my work out into the world," they add.

Their advice for others is to always "be bold and be you."

"You never know where that can take you. I'm excited for the future and all the opportunities that this moment is creating for everyone involved," they share. "Thanks to everyone for rallying behind me."
