Two years after their second breakup, the exes are allegedly “leaning on each other” during a difficult stretch for them both, sparking fresh speculation about where things stand between them now.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck split for the second time in August 2024, closing another chapter of their on-and-off romance. According to a source cited by Heatworld, though, the pair have grown close again in recent months. The insider claims the two “spend a lot more time together than anyone realises.” The source also notes that Lopez and Affleck visited the same West Hollywood office on the same day last month. They were also careful to avoid being photographed together.
The renewed closeness reportedly followed the death of Affleck’s mother in June. The source told the outlet that Lopez “really stepped up to support Ben.” He, too, “let his guard down” and has been leaning on her since. Lopez, meanwhile, is said to be going through her own difficult period, balancing a demanding schedule now that her twins have left for college.

“Ben’s trying to help her in any way that he can, which has meant a lot of phone calls at all hours,” the insider said. The two are reportedly slipping back into “their same old dynamic” where Lopez turns to Affleck for advice. With her children gone, the singer reportedly feels “pretty unmoored.” So, having him back in her life “even in this limited capacity” has offered some comfort.
Whether the emotional support could develop into romance remains uncertain. The source noted the pair have “learned by now” that they aren’t fully compatible, particularly regarding public life. Even so, their connection clearly lingers. “Even when they talk on the phone, there’s a flirty vibe again,” the insider said. And now, people close to them are wondering if things could turn romantic once more.
Neither Lopez nor Affleck has publicly commented on the claims. Their relationship spans over two decades, with their engagement in the early 2000s ending just before the wedding. The pair reconnected later and were married from 2022 to 2024.
