Sometimes, a dance break is really, really necessary. And Jonathan Van Ness—who just announced the final season of Queer Eye, which premiered on Netflix this week—decided to bundle up, get outside, and dance in the New York City snowstorm to shake off the current chaos of the world around him.

"I needed a dance break, and I did learn on @gettingbetterwithjvn that when we feel connected to joy, even just for moments in our lives, it makes us more likely to be engaged in issues we are passionate about," Van Ness wrote on the Instagram video. "Don't lose connection to your joy, it really is important."

Van Ness talks openly and often about self-care on the Getting Better With JVN podcast. "In a world that often feels overwhelming—where it's easy to feel stuck, frustrated, or helpless," the podcast intends to "offer a lifeline" and help listeners "emerge thriving, invigorated, and most importantly, a little bit better."

Self-care is JVN's entire personal brand, after all. The Queer Eye star regularly shares viral social media reels encouraging followers to step into their confidence.

And it's no secret that dancing does wonders for one's mental health. Harvard scientists say that synchronizing music and movement through dance offers a "pleasure double play," stimulating the brain's reward centers. Studies also suggest that dance can improve mood, reduce stress, increase feel‑good neurotransmitters like serotonin, and strengthen neural connections in areas tied to memory and executive function. All of this contributes to better overall mental health and cognitive resilience.

All of that good stuff also better equips one to stomach and combat the chaos and current political climate with emotional fortitude, mental clarity, and a steadier sense of well-being, helping individuals respond to issues about which they're passionate with thoughtful intention rather than reactive impulsivity.

JVN's fans are loving the idea of dancing to let off some steam. They're thanking the "Elsa queen" for the "smiles" today and "the reminder" to stay connected to joy.

"Get it, snow bunny!" one commented, with others asking him where exactly he was prancing around in his colorful pants because they wanted to join him in the joyous dance.
