Samantha and Kyle first met at a racing event in 2007. The pair began dating shortly after and wed on Dec. 31, 2010. She previously told PEOPLE that throughout their marriage, they faced infertility difficulties, but Kyle was always there for her.

“Kyle has always been my rock,” Samantha told PEOPLE in 2020. “So many people only know the aggressive and strong-willed side of him that he shows when he is on the track. But the Kyle that I know is so different from that. Every time I feel like I’m falling apart, he picks me back up again.”

"Throughout a career that spanned more than two decades, Kyle set records in national series wins, won championships at NASCAR’s highest level and fostered the next generation of drivers as an owner in the Truck Series," the statement continued. "His sharp wit and competitive spirit sparked a deep emotional connection with race fans of every age, creating the proud and loyal ‘Rowdy Nation.’"
