Lisa Kudrow is offering her renewed opinion on a great Friends debate

In a new interview, the actress was asked whether she thought Ross Geller and Rachel Green were indeed "on a break" when Ross slept with another woman in season 3

While Kudrow earlier said yes, she now says she's "switched" how she feels about the issue

Lisa Kudrow is weighing in — again — on the greatest debate in all 10 seasons of Friends: whether Ross and Rachel were on a break.

As any Friends fan can recall, the devastating breakup between Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) in season 3 centered around one question: Were they on a break when Ross slept with another woman?

In the show, Rachel made clear that she felt the couple were not broken up when Ross had slept with another woman ("hot copy girl" Chloe). Ross, however, insisted they were “on a break,” and that warranted him being with another woman. Even when faced with a reconciliation in season 4, Ross couldn’t bring himself to fess up to being in the wrong, ensuring the iconic couple wouldn’t date again (besides a one-night stand in which they conceived baby Emma) until the series finale.

Kudrow had said in the 2021 Friends reunion special that the couple was indeed on a break at the time — an opinion backed up by the other cast members, including Aniston and Schwimmer as well as Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry.

However, speaking to Entertainment Tonight recently, 62-year-old Kudrow said, “I’ve switched,” when asked where she stands on the issue.

“Ross was ridiculous, what a baby! You can’t plan a future with that guy," Kudrow told the outlet.

In 2019 — in honor of the NBC comedy’s 25th anniversary — dating app Plenty of Fish surveyed 1,865 people, and the results proved that Ross won the debate on this one: They were on a break.

Of the singles surveyed at the time, 60% believed that Ross was in the right. However, women sided more with Rachel, with 44% believing he cheated, versus 36% of men.

Kudrow has previously shared that she didn't re-watch the show until after the death of co-star Perry of an accidental drug overdose in October 2023.

“God forbid anybody walk into my house and saw me watching my show, I'd be mortified,” she joked in 2024. “But after Matthew passed away, there were marathons and I wanted to watch. It felt like part of the remembering, grieving, remembering, all that, and just enjoying, and celebrating. And, boy, I appreciated everybody on it.”

“Like, Ben!” she continued. “Schwimmer’s hilarious. Matt LeBlanc is making me laugh out loud. Jennifer, come on! She's so good. Look what she just did, she's so good. And Courteney, it's like, oh my god, you're hilarious. How did you never get nominated for an Emmy? And Matthew, of course. Genius. At the time he was blowing me away.”
