Liza Minnelli has a suggestion for her haters: Try dancing it off.
The EGOT-winning legend of stage and screen is returning to music over a decade after the release of her last single. Fans ought to be excited beyond measure over "Kids Wait Till You Hear This," her EDM-infused new track that borrows its title from her forthcoming memoir.
But the thrill has been somewhat dampened for some after learning that the song is a part of *The Eleven Album*, a new collection from the AI voice platform Eleven Labs. Minnelli took to Facebook on Wednesday to clarify the role AI played — and apparently did not play — in crafting the new song, and pushed back on those already critical of the collaboration.
"Hi Kids, I'm happy as a clam, laughing like hell and losing my mind! It's all goin' on at the time," the *Cabaret *star began her post.
"Today, my first EDM single since The Pet Shop Boys era, released on [ElevenLabs], a Six Billion Dollar techno behemoth does amazing things. Matthew McConaughey was an early investor. Smart," she continued. "What I will not allow this great company to do? Create, clone or copy my voice! On this dance track, “Kids Wait Till You Hear This” which is a tease for my book, we used AI arrangements. Not AI vocals. A few trolls didn’t bother to read the truth, check with me or my partners. The shout outs are all mine!"
Minnelli then encouraged her nearly 400,000 followers on the social media platform to "go listen, enjoy, and shake your pretty buns to the music, as we glide down the runway to send my book into the world and your very own hot hands."

ElevenLabs announced Minnelli's participation in *The Eleven Album *on Wednesday in a press release that touted the compilation as "a landmark musical release" designed to "explore what's possible when artists and AI create together."
Minnelli joins Art Garfunkel, prolific pop songwriter Patrick Patrikios, and film and TV composer Demitri Leiros, as well as Kai, an "AI music artist" known for the song "That's a Vibe," and King Willonius, a self-described "AI storyteller", whom ElevenLabs notes is "known for creating the viral BBL music tracks."

Minnelli is quoted in the release as being "interested" in the project due to the prospect of "using my voice and new tools in service of expression, not instead of it. This project respects the artist's voice, the artist's choices, and the artist's ownership. I grew up watching my parents create wonderful dreams that were owned by other people." But this AI company, Minnelli noted, "makes it possible for anyone to be a creator and owner."****

It's been 13 years since Minnelli last released new music. She recorded "A Love Letter from the Times" for the NBC musical drama series *Smash* and performed the song on season 2 episode "The Surprise Party" alongside series star Tom Levitt.
Minnelli also recorded an introduction to Nicolas King's 2021 album *Act One*, but her last full album, *Confessions*, was released back in 2010.
The daughter of classic Hollywood legends Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli has been busy over the past year, however, performing live for the first time in years on an April episode of *RuPaul's Drag Race*, weighing in on who should play her in a planned biopic, and preparing for the release of her first memoir.
