Get ready for a Skeletor summer, because He-Man is returning to the big screen!

The iconic super-powered toy-turned-cartoon was first introduced in 1982, followed by the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in 1983.

In the decades since, He-Man has appeared in various TV series, comic books and a 1987 film starring Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella and Courteney Cox.

Now the iconic superhuman character is being brought to life again, this time in a new live-action movie, Masters of the Universe — and on Jan. 22, MGM Studios released the first trailer for the movie starring Nicholas Galitzine.

"It has been a dream for so long to play someone of his heart, humour and heroism, I cannot wait to get started," the Red, White & Royal Blue actor wrote on Instagram when his casting was announced in May 2024.

The action in the upcoming Masters of the Universe will span both Earth and Eternia.

According to the film's trailer, as a boy, Prince Adam was sent away from his home planet of Eternia to hide on Earth. Living a normal life as Adam Glenn, he is stuck in a boring office job, while daydreaming of fantasy and faraway lands.

After finding the mythical Sword of Power, Adam makes his way back to Eternia, "where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor," according to a synopsis for the movie.

"To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela and Duncan/Man-At-Arms," the description continues. "And embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe."

The rest of the cast includes Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn and Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull. Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson plays Malcolm/Fisto and Kristin Wiig voices the character Roboto.

In December 2025, Galitzine told PEOPLE how bulking up for his He-Man role was "the hardest thing" he's ever done, noting it was "a daily challenge."

"But there is something incredibly empowering about committing to something so heavily," he explained. "I've never had a challenge like that before, which really every single day you have to wake up and you can see the peak of the mountain vaguely, but especially when you're bulking."

"I think it would be insincere for me to say that it was easy," added the Mary & George actor.
