Matt Damon is in talks to star in the new film from the Daniels.

Ryan Gosling previously departed the Everything Everywhere All at Once follow-up.

Damon will next be seen in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Matt Damon could be adding two more Oscar-winning directors to his résumé.

As he prepares for the July release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Damon is in talks to star in the new film from Everything Everywhere All at Once duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed.

The news comes just over a month after Ryan Gosling dropped out of the film for scheduling reasons. With the production landing a multimillion-dollar tax credit to shoot in Los Angeles, filming couldn't move off of the summer start date, and Gosling's schedule was unable to accommodate. Universal and the Daniels have now pivoted to Damon, who is fronting the studio's epic upcoming blockbuster, The Odyssey.

EW reached out to Universal Pictures, but the studio had no comment.

Not much is known about the Daniels' mysterious follow-up to Everything Everywhere All at Once, but anticipation is high given how their last film was embraced by audiences and the Academy Awards. At the 2023 Oscars, Everything took home...well, everything. The awards powerhouse won the trophies for Best Picture, Best Directing, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, and both Best Supporting categories for Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The Daniels would be the latest Oscar-winning directors that Damon has collaborated with, having previously worked with Nolan, Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Soderbergh, Robert Redford, Joel and Ethan Coen, and Ben Affleck.

Already an Oscar winner for co-writing Good Will Hunting with Affleck, Damon could be in line to win his first acting Oscar with his role of Odysseus in Nolan's telling of Homer's Odyssey.

Deadline was first to report the news about Damon and the Daniels' next film.
