Warning! Daredevil: Born Again season 2 spoilers ahead.

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again starts with a bang, introducing new characters into the fold.

Throughout season 1, audiences watched as Mayor Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) took over New York City. Through corrupt politics and business ties, he funded his secret criminal enterprises, all while scapegoating vigilantes, like Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil (Charlie Cox), as the “real” villains.

The second installment picks up with Fisk wielding greater power than ever. The people of New York have fully bought into Fisk’s lies and are complicit in his unlawful power grabs, believing everything is for the greater good.

What they don’t know is that Fisk plans to assert even more force over the city, essentially giving himself kinglike powers that will allow him to persecute without trial and amass a secretive army. To defend the city, Daredevil will need extra help from a team of allies.

As the crisis builds in season 2, so does the cast. Daredevil: Born Again features several returning stars, including Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn. But new stars are joining the show too.

Marvel alum Krysten Ritter is reprising her role as Jessica Jones. In addition, Royce Johnson returns as Det. Sgt. Brett Mahoney and Elden Henson comes back as Foggy Nelson. Meanwhile, Matthew Lillard is joining the cast as Mr. Charles and Lili Taylor as New York Governor Marge McCaffrey.

Here's everything to know about the new characters in Daredevil: Born Again for season 2.

Ritter is reprising her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.

Jones is a former superhero with PTSD who later started her own detective agency. Ritter first portrayed the character for the Netflix series Jessica Jones from 2015 to 2019, and she starred alongside Cox’s Daredevil in the 2017 miniseries The Defenders.

In Daredevil: Born Again, Jones will join Daredevil in the fight against Fisk to save New York from his corrupt regime.

"We were really about how these characters have developed and evolved and grown up since the Netflix shows ended," Daredevil: Born Again creator and showrunner Dario Scardapane told Entertainment Weekly in March 2026.

He continued, "Jessica Jones, in particular, has interesting life events that we wanted to explore, and the banter between Charlie and Krysten is so damn good. We needed to get that flavor in."

Lillard is joining the cast as Mr. Charles, a fixer who arrives in New York to help Fisk after a high-profile disaster threatens to expose him for the criminal he truly is.

In the premiere episode, Mr. Charles reveals that he was sent by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. This detail opens the door for a potential cameo from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who portrayed the character in Thunderbolts* (2025).

Scardapane told MovieWeb he was excited to add Fontaine to the series, even in a small way.

"So, building Mr. Charles as somebody who lives in the Val world, we wanted to make that connection," he said in March 2026. “For me, personally, away from everything MCU, I would love her to be part of our world. There's a story in the back of my head I would love to tell you, but I don't know, those choices aren't mine."

Primetime Emmy nominee Lili Taylor joins the Daredevil cast in season 2 as New York Governor Marge McCaffrey.

McCaffrey will serve as an antagonist to Fisk. As the state’s governor, she’s starting to realize that Fisk is grossly overstepping his boundaries as a mayor. She worries that his actions could threaten the entire political structure of the state.

Taylor was a New York resident for years, and in May 2025, she told Rural Intelligence how that helped prepare her to portray the public official.

“I’m the governor, which is great,” she said. “I know Albany, and I know the politics there.”

The actress also acknowledged the show’s timely relevance, saying, “They’re creating something meaningful, and the show’s dealing with a lot of topical stuff — power, authoritarianism.”

Royce Johnson as Det. Sgt. Brett Mahoney

In February 2026, Royce Johnson posted an Instagram Reel confirming his return to the MCU in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again.

He’ll be reprising his role as Det. Sgt. Brett Mahoney, an honest, hardworking NYPD detective who strives for a better city.

Mahoney was a supporting character in the original Daredevil show (2015-2017) and in The Punisher (2017-2019). He also appeared in an episode of Jessica Jones in 2015.

With Fisk corrupting much of the NYPD, Mahoney will serve as a vital ally to Daredevil in season 2, assuming that he himself isn’t swayed by Fisk’s domineering takeover.

Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson

Elden Henson is coming back as Foggy Nelson.

In the original Daredevil series, Foggy was Matt Murdock’s best friend and co-worker. But in a shocking twist, he’s killed in the first scene of Daredevil: Born Again.

However, in the trailer for season 2, Foggy somehow appears to be alive again.
