Noah Wyle and Julianna Margulies Have “ER” Reunion at 2026 Emmys Pre-Party

Noah Wyle and Julianna Margulies caught up more than three decades after they first appeared together on ER

Noah Wyle and Julianna Margulies are reuniting for a good cause — but they’ve traded their scrubs for something a little swankier.

The former ER costars posed for photos together at the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s 20th Annual Evening Before, at West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center on Sunday, Sept. 13.

The event, which raises both money and awareness for MPTF (an organization which supports members of the entertainment community in need), comes 32 years after the pair starred in their breakout roles on ER as Dr. John Carter and Head Nurse Carol Hathaway.

Margulies departed the show as as a series regular in 2000, and Wyle did the same in 2005, but they’ve publicly reunited a handful of times since their ER days. The two actors notably joined forces to present at the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2013.

Most recently, Margulies and Wyle were joined by ER costars George Clooney and Anthony Edwards (Dr. Doug Ross and Dr. Mark Greene, respectively) during the opening night of Good Night, and Good Luck in New York City in April 2025. The get-together came as Clooney, 65, began his run at the Winter Garden Theatre; the former costars posed for a photo during an afterparty held at the New York Public Library.

Ahead of Monday night’s 78th Emmy Awards, Wyle is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work in HBO Max hit, The Pitt. Fellow nominees in the category are Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Mark Ruffalo (Task) and Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat).

Margulies told the in April that her time with her costars on ER was “lightning in a bottle.”

“The perfect moment that captured that was George’s opening night on Braodway,” she said. “Noah, Anthony and I all came to support him. And George walked right into the party, made a beeline for us and the four of us just hugged each other.”

She added, “He wanted us to be around him first before anyone else. That’s because these moments... we knew it was lightning in a bottle with ER. So you don’t ever forget that. And those bonds are for life.”

Wyle echoed her sentiments about the reunion on The Jennifer Hudson Show, noting that no matter how much time passes, the former castmates share a special bond.

“It was amazing. We haven’t been in the same room for over a decade, easily,” Wyle said. “And we were all there to support George ... and he was tremendous. But even better was just being back in each other’s company. It was really cool.”

The 78th Emmy Awards air live on Monday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
