Patrick Mahomes Hid from Andy Reid on the Dance Floor at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding: ‘Part of My Rehab’

Patrick Mahomes said dancing at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding was “part of my rehab process”

The Chiefs quarterback joked that he hid from head coach Andy Reid “in a back corner” during the festivities on July 3

Mahomes added, “They’re two special people and one of the best nights, I think of all time, for anybody”

Patrick Mahomes tested out his endurance on the dance floor at Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding.

As the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, 30, prepares for the first game of the new NFL season on Monday, Sept. 14, Mahomes sat down with ESPN’s Chris Berman and shared new details about attending his teammate’s wedding over the summer.

“I was super excited to see him, to see Taylor, them come together, and I mean you saw the people around them,” Mahomes said of the newlyweds, adding, “They’re two special people and one of the best nights, I think of all time, for anybody.”

Swift and Kelce, both 36, tied the knot on July 3 in a star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Mahomes, who attended the nuptials with wife Brittany, also told Berman he spent most of the evening avoiding Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. “I stayed away from Coach Reid,” Mahomes said. “I saw him early, I went and did the hellos, and the music started, and I went and found a corner in the back,” he added.

Mahomes joked, “And that was part of my rehab process, was to see my dance moves on the floor.”

Mahomes tore both the ACL and LCL in his left knee during a game in December 2025. “I was banged up at the end of last year, but we’re good to go now,” he told Berman.

The quarterback also spoke about the biggest lessons he learned during the rehab process. “I didn’t realize how much rehab was just working out your legs, and I pushed myself to get stronger and stronger throughout that,” Mahomes said.

Last month, Reid revealed that Mahomes spent “seven hours a day” working on his recovery during the offseason. “He just goes. He kept playing, he gets his rehab taken care of before and after practice, you know how he is — he’s all in,” Reid said. “He didn’t go anywhere. Seven hours a day, he was there working...and it pays off for him.”

The Chiefs and the Broncos kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 14.
