King Charles is reportedly happy about Prince Harry‘s UK return. The Duke of Sussex relocated to his homeland on August 26, 2026. As per an ex-butler, the monarch is “excited” about Harry and Meghan Markle‘s comeback.
Former butler reveals why King Charles is reportedly ‘excited’ about Prince Harry returning to the UK with his family
According to former royal butler Grant Harrold, King Charles is “excited” about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK return. The monarch is happy as he can now play “a larger role” in his grandkids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s lives.
“Like any grandparent, the King will be very excited to have Archie and Lilibet close again,” Harrold told the Daily Express on behalf of Press Box PR. The 48-year-old continued, “He hasn’t had a chance to really see them grow up.” Thus, “he will be very happy to play a larger role in their lives.”
He believes “it’s been very hard for him to know how much he’s missed out on.” Charles missed an important part of his grandchildren’s childhood because of the distance between the UK and the US. The monarch reunited with the young royals during the Sussexes’ July trip to England. Now, a longer stay of the family has left him excited.

Harrold stated Charles “would never have wanted to be an absent grandparent.” He called the king “a very caring man, and said that “his family means a lot to him.” The former butler continued, “All things aside, he would want to play an active role in his grandchildren’s lives.”
A friend of the monarch told The Daily Beast that Charles indirectly encouraged his son to return to Britain. The Duke was “informally encouraged by King Charles to return to the U.K. because the king believes that the royal family is stronger united.” Moreover, the friend said, “The king’s faith has played a part, but ultimately this is a strategic decision for the good of the family. The stand-off needed to be resolved.”
