Prince William said he is "hoping and sure" that he'll be invited to the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

The Prince of Wales, 43, appeared on U.K. radio showHeart Breakfast alongside hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on the morning of Friday, May 22, and teased his appearance at the upcoming nuptials.

After requesting Heart play “Opalite” for his Swiftie children, Princess Charlotte, 11 and Prince Louis, 8, Theakston said to William, 55, “We believe there is a big wedding happening this summer,” to which Holden chimed in and said, “Oh yes! Have you got an invite?”

William replied, “No comment. I’m hoping and I’m sure there might be an invitation around but we’ll see.”

Swift, 36, is due to marry Kansas City Chiefs player Kelce, also 36, though the couple have not publicly shared any details of their big day.

The pair announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post on Aug. 26 last year and captioned it: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨."

William teasing his appearance at the nuptials comes after he attended Swift's Eras Tour in June 2024 with Princess Charlotte and Prince George, 12 — something he called "amazing" during his radio appearance.

While on the radio show on Friday, William was asked by Theakston what song he would like to play for listeners, to which the royal responded, “How about some Taylor Swift?”

When asked why, he said, “Charlotte, my daughter, and Louis, to be fair, Charlotte, particularly, is obsessed by Taylor Swift. We went to see her on her Eras Tour and it was amazing.”

William, George and Charlotte watched Swift perform from a box at London’s Wembley Arena on William’s birthday in June 2024.

“We were watching from up there, which is quite a long way from where the actual action is happening but the atmosphere was so incredible, you could actually feel the floors shaking when they were all dancing, it was brilliant," William said on the radio show.

The royal trio even met the “Shake It Off” singer backstage, along with Kelce, and took some group selfies. William later thanked Swift for a “great concert” on social media.

Swift also posted her selfie on Instagram and captioned it: "Happy Bday M8. London shows are off to a splendid start."

Swift and Kelce have kept their wedding plans tightly under wraps.

During an appearance on Travis' New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast with him and brother, Jason Kelce, in September, guest Jimmy Fallon asked, "Are you gonna do DJ or band? Are you thinking about all this stuff?”

Travis replied, “Yeah, I think we're live music kind of people, you know?”

A source also told PEOPLE in September that the pop star and the tight end “want to keep it more private” when they tie the knot. “It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” the source said. “They both have a close circle of friends, and they’ll respect their privacy.”
