Newly released surveillance footage is offering a closer look at Nick Reiner’s movements in the hours before his arrest in connection with the killings of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

The video, obtained from a Los Angeles gas station and shared widely on Wednesday, December 17, shows the 32-year-old stopping at an ARCO convenience store in Exposition Park on the evening of Sunday, December 14—just hours after authorities discovered the bodies of Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, inside their Brentwood home.

In the footage, Nick is seen wearing a green-and-black windbreaker and a baseball cap as he enters the store, briefly exits, then reenters to grab a drink before leaving again. Moments later, in a separate clip, Nick appears standing across the street as police arrive. He raises his arms and is taken into custody at approximately 9:15 p.m. that evening.

Two days later, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Nick had been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, with a special circumstance of multiple murders. The charges carry a potential sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.

Investigators allege the killings occurred earlier that day. A 911 call placed by Nick’s sisterRomy Reiner reportedly described finding Rob and Michele unresponsive and bleeding in their home. In the aftermath, sources told TMZ that Nick checked into a Santa Monica hotel in the early morning hours of December 14, where staff later found the room covered in blood, including a shower “full of blood” and stains on the bed. Nick never formally checked out.

The night before the bodies were discovered, the family had attended Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party together. Sources previously told NBC News that Nick became disruptive during the gathering and was involved in a heated argument with his father, leaving Rob and Michele visibly upset and embarrassed.

Rob and Michele’s other children, Jake Reiner, 34, and Romy, 27, broke their silence on December 17, thanking the public for its support. “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” they said in a statement obtained by NBC News. “They weren't just our parents; they were our best friends.”
