A rep for Ryan Reynolds spoke out after his private texts came to light in Blake Lively's legal battle with Justin Baldoni
"If anything, Ryan feels like he wasnât angry enough," his rep said about Reynolds supporting Lively
In one unsealed text exchange, Reynolds allegedly referred to Baldoni as a âthoroughbred, predatory fraudsterâ and an âinexplicably toxic messâ
Ryan Reynolds' private texts sticking up for Blake Lively during It Ends With Us have been made public as part of the legal battle with Justin Baldoni, and a rep for the actor is speaking out.
"Yes, Ryan got involved â what husband wouldnât support his wife and the mother of his children?" a rep for Reynolds told Puck News as part of a report by the outlet titled "Is Blake Really Unhireable â and Can Ryan Escape the Blast Radius?"
"He saw his wife fighting daily to stand up against sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, only to face retaliation for doing so," his rep continued in a statement. "If anything, Ryan feels like he wasnât angry enough. He passionately believes in and will stand up for the basic right to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation for his wife and others. Then, now and always."
On Jan. 21, Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman said in a statement, "As stated all along, and reflected in our clients' motions, as well as in messages from Sony discussing Ms. Lively's behaviors, the evidence does not support [Lively's] claims as a matter of law. A simple read of the newly released message exchanges make the truth abundantly clear. We remain confident in the legal process and clearing the names of all the Justin Baldoni parties."
Among Reynolds' texts that was recently unsealed in the ongoing legal proceedings is one sent to his WME agent Warren Zavala in August 2024, just as It Ends With Us was enjoying a big opening weekend box office amid online speculation of drama behind the scenes.

"I'm super frustrated because this is a moment in which Blake should be celebrating. She made this unbelievable win happen," he allegedly wrote at the time, adding, "She WILLED this weekend into reality. Baldoni and these other buckets of dumb-dumb-juice should be acknowledging the speculation and gossip themselves. They should be jumping in front of it in the most full throated, unqualified way. Now."
In that lengthy text, the Deadpool & Wolverine star, 49, claimed Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios counterparts had "made a big f---ing mess" and Lively "should not be subjected to some eye-roll-y narrative of the 'controlling bitch.'"
Reynolds, in another unsealed text exchange from July 2024 to a WME executive, allegedly referred to Baldoni as a âthoroughbred, predatory fraudsterâ and an âinexplicably toxic mess.â
He allegedly added in that message: "I'd put Blake's reputation on trial any day of the week. She's worked with ... dozens of other mercurial, and abusive people. In her experience (and mine) nobody has ever reached the empyrean heights of vile the way Justin Baldoni has. His complete lack of not only remorse but self-preservation is a character study in malignant, lazy-lidded stupidity and darkness."

Lively, 38, sued her costar-director Baldoni, 42, in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation, which he denies. She's seeking over $160 million in damages, and the trial is scheduled for May 2026 in New York. Baldoni's countersuit against Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion, has since been dismissed by the judge.
Baldoni's legal team has maintained that they believe Lively and Reynolds used their status in Hollywood to smear him.
"This is a case about two of the most powerful stars in the world deploying their enormous power to steal an entire film right out of the hands of its director and production studio," Baldoni's lawyers claimed in his countersuit. "Then, when Lively and Reynoldsâ efforts failed to win them the acclaim they believed they so richly deserved, they turned their fury on their chosen scapegoat."
Sigrid McCawley, Lively's attorney, said in a Jan. 22 statement, "The overwhelming evidence revealed by the unsealed materials shows that women in every role on set â from producers, to writers, to cast, to crew â experienced what they believed was inappropriate conduct. Baldoniâs team dismissed them as 'trivial,' but there is nothing trivial about sexual harassment."
After news of Lively's lawsuit, Baldoni was dropped by his agency at the time, WME, in December 2024. In January 2025, WME responded to allegations that Reynolds had "pressured" Baldoniâs agent at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere, saying, "This is not true." WME added at the time: âBaldoniâs former representative was not at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere nor was there any pressure from Reynolds or Lively at any time to drop Baldoni as a client."
