People are expected to take to the streets in Sacramento for the upcoming "No Kings Day" protest, a day of mass mobilization across the United States to demonstrate their frustration with President Donald Trump's administration.
Organizers are expecting this wave of protest on March 28 to be one of the largest, with more than 3,000 events scheduled across the country — almost 1,000 more than the first "No Kings" national mobilization, according to a March 18 press release.
Protesters confront U.S. Marines and National Guardsman outside a federal building during an anti-Trump "No Kings Day" demonstration on June 14, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.
“Americans may disagree on policy, but we agree on two fundamental values: that we should be governed by ourselves, not kings, and that there is a basic goodness at our core," said Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, in a press release. "That’s why I’m not surprised that millions of Americans refuse to be cowed by the federal government’s abuses of power and are saying ‘count me in’ for No Kings."
During the last "No Kings" held in October 2025, about 7,000 people gathered at California's Capitol to express their displeasure with the Trump administration, according to the Sacramento Bee.
What is 'No Kings Day'?
The "No Kings Day" protests are organized by a broad coalition of progressive organizations, labor unions and activist groups, including Indivisible, the 50501 Movement and the American Civil Liberties Union.

The events, organizers say, are in response to Trump and his attempt to “control” the populace.
“With every ICE raid, every escalation abroad, and every abuse of power at home, Americans are rising up in opposition to Trump’s attempt to rule through fear and force,” Ezra Levin, co-executive director of Indivisible, said. "Each day Trump crosses a new red line, and more people are deciding they’ve had enough. That is why people across the country are organizing, showing up for their neighbors, and making one thing unmistakably clear: we are done with the corruption, the cruelty, and the authoritarianism.”
In June, more than 5 million people participated in the first round of protests across 2,100 events, while the October rendition saw 7 million people across 2,700 events, according to organizers.
“The March 28 mobilization is the next step in this growing movement, with organizers anticipating it will be one of the largest single-day nonviolent nationwide protests in U.S. history,” organizers said.
In the Sacramento area, organizers have over a dozen protests planned, according to an online map of "No Kings Day" protests.
