For months on Days of Our Lives, Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) has been the target of a mysterious stalker. Now, her father Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and her fiancé Alex Kirakis (Robert Scott Wilson) have devised a plan to lure the person responsible into the open, but the stalker appears to be staying one step ahead.
In the show’s latest weekly promo, released on the official Days of Our Lives YouTube channel, Steve meets with Stephanie and Alex at their apartment, expressing confidence that the plan will work. “He will definitely show up for this,” Steve says. “We'll make sure he sees an opportunity to get Stephanie alone and that's when we'll nab him.”
However, the promo reveals that the stalker may already know more than the family realizes. Outside of the apartment the unknown figure is shown listening in on the entire conversation though a tablet while seated in what appears to be an office setting.
Earlier in the storyline, Stephanie was revealed to be an author of a novel titled One Story Night under the pen name Anastasia Sans. The book was published by Alex’s company, Titan Publishing, and Stephanie later revealed that several scenes were inspired by her real-life experiences with past relationships.
One particular scene in the novel was set aboard an airplane and was drawn from her 2007 relationship with Jeremy Horton (Michael Roark), which ultimately ended due to domestic violence after Jeremy abused her.
Jeremy later returned to Salem, announced that he had accepted a teaching position at the local school, where he would be instructing Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) and Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher). Although he claimed to have turned his life around, his presence made Stephanie uneasy, and not long after his arrival, the stalking began.
As the situation escalated, Stephanie began receiving increasingly aggressive fan mail, with the sender demonstrating knowledge of her family, friends, and home address. Concerned for her safety, Steve moved in with his daughter as the family worked to uncover the stalker’s identity.
