Teyana Taylor and Jessie Buckley appear to have formed a friendship on the awards trail this season.

Taylor, 35, told The Hollywood Reporter in a Thursday, Jan. 22 interview that she and Buckley, 36, celebrated their respective acting nominations for the 98th Academy Awards together over FaceTime after nominations for the upcoming 2026 Oscars were announced.

"[She] texted me, and we got on FaceTime,” Taylor, who costars in One Battle After Another, said of Buckley, the star of Hamnet. “We both were on FaceTime, just screaming. She’s like, ‘I’m so proud of you.’ I’m like, ‘I’m so proud of you.' It feels good to just all be so proud of one another.”

Taylor is nominated for best supporting actress alongside Sentimental Value actors Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Amy Madigan (Weapons) and Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners). Buckley, meanwhile, is nominated for best actress along with Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) and Emma Stone (Bugonia).

One Battle After Another received 13 nominations at the Oscars, while Hamnet received eight. Sinners leads this year's field with 16 total nominations, which broke a record for the most nominations for a single film ever.

Both Buckley and Taylor have already taken home trophies this awards season. The women both won at the Golden Globe Awards for their performances on Jan. 11, and Buckley also won Best Actress at the Critics Choice Awards (Taylor was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category at that ceremony, but Madigan took home the prize for Weapons). Buckley and Taylor are also nominated in the leading and supporting actress categories, respectively, at the upcoming Actor Awards on March 1 as well.

While speaking to her own Oscar nomination for One Battle After Another, Taylor told THR that she is "still processing" the news and that she felt "in shock" after the nominations were announced. “It takes me back to when I first retired from music because I felt like they were trying to box me in, and I remember nobody believing me when I told them that I could do it all,” she said.

“I consider myself a Glade plugin. Why only be plugged in the bathroom when you can make the whole house smell good?" Taylor added. "The fact that everything is happening at once — being nominated for a Grammy for my album and nominated for Oscar for acting and winning a Golden Globe, it just is a testament of really standing 10 toes down on your dreams.”

Conan O'Brien is returning to host the Oscars live on Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming on Hulu.

Starting in 2029, the award show will air on YouTube.
