X-Men star Tyler Mane has revealed he has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 59-year-old is known for his role playing Sabretooth in the 2000 hit X-Men, as well as being a former World Championship Wrestler. He fans on the "super rare" diagnosis on June 8, telling them he was set to start chemotherapy treatment.
Speaking in a video on Instagram he shared his hopes to help raise awareness for the disease, and how men can also be diagnosed with it. He said, "I have some bad news. I start chemo today. One in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and I'm one of them. Because it's rarely talked about, it's usually found at later stages and has worse outcomes. I want to change that." New treatment for breast cancer was recently approved.

Tyler reprised the role of Sabretooth in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine movie. He has admitted that he now hopes to document his treatment journey to help raise awareness for male breast cancer and to urge other men to pay attention to the potential symptoms.
He continued, "Come along for my journey to kick this thing in the ass. Send this to 10 of your friends and have them follow me because people need to hear this. F-k cancer!" He then explained how he had wanted to keep his diagnosis private at first, before changing his mind.

He said, "Yep. I have breast cancer. And yep, it's super rare. Only 1% of breast cancers are men. I'll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it's kind of embarrassing. "But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advanced stages because it's not talked about and not looked for."
Tyler also thanked his wife Renae Geerlings, confirming that she encouraged him to seek treatment after doctors initially dismissed his concerns.
He said, "In fact, my doctors all dismissed it and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early. So let's start talking about it!" Men account for less than 1% of breast cancer cases in the US, according to the American Cancer Society.
The organization confirmed that men often get diagnosed later due to low levels of awareness and their symptoms being missed. The Mayo Cliniuc confirms that symptoms can include a painless lump in the chest; changes to the skin or nipple, such as dimpling, scaling, or discoloration; and nipple discharge or bleeding.
Breast cancer is more common in older males, but can occur at any age. Tyler was a professional wrestler in the late 1980s and early 1990s before retiring in 1996 and turning his hand to his career in Hollywood.
